This has been a busy season for the Lonski family!!!! At the end of July, we welcomed Katharine into the world...my newest granddaughter! JOY!!
We now have two grandchildren and they keep us on our toes!
Another exciting event has taken place this summer... our daughter Sarah got married..well, let me back up a bit! In January, Joe asked Sarah if she would like to go skiing and she said yes!..but then Joe said "should I ask your parents?" To which she replied..."no they don't ski"! She really is a natural blond!!!!
Well, they did go skiing, and then Joe wanted to meet with Bill and I. Joe wanted permission to date Sarah and I got to ask a question I always wanted to..."what are your intentions"??? He promptly replied....marriage....I gulped because I said it in fun and he was serious!
We've known Joe since he was young and have great respect and love for him and his family, but marriage????? My baby????!!!!
Well, Bill and I said yes and the adventure began! Can you say whirlwind????
Sarah and Joe became best friends and spent a lot of time together....they went skydiving, canoeing, on an extreme trip to the grand canyon with their youth group from church and on and on!
At the end of April Joe wanted to meet with us again, so we went out to eat and we had a very pleasant time....as we were finishing our meal I thought that he was going to ask for Sarah's hand in marriage....but nothing was happening so I just said "was there anything you wanted to talk about?"
Joe told us he just wanted to hang out with us to which I almost chocked on my food...ummmmhmmmmmmmmm....I don't think so...I mean I know we're fun ...except to young people!!!
We got up to leave and as we were getting our coats Joe said "WAIT" there is one more thing!!! And THAT is when he asked for our blessing for him to ask Sarah to marry him!!! Guess he was nervous, but my respect for him really blossomed! Well, I thought he would ask Sarah to marry him right away, but he was saving for a ring! It was really hard for me to keep my mouth shut!!!!
Finally, he was able to get her a ring so he planned a romantic boat ride, and then they went on the land down a candlelite path where he had prepared a feast of ..........mac and cheese! PRICELESS!!!!
He asked her...she said YES and Joe had everyone waiting at his parents house to help celebrate!!!!
What a wonderful night!!!
Next began the talk of WHEN???? Sarah wanted a summer wedding, and Joe didn't want to wait till next summer so ..............the craziness began!!!!
Since Joe is a youth pastor he had a lot of eyes on him and both wanted to remain pure before marriage ....so ooooo between mid July to Aug. 11th their wedding was planned!!
They had no plan b...wanted an outdoor wedding, so they decided on the Baileys beautiful yard and then came the wonderful people that offered to organize, cook, decorate help with flowers, and all of the logistics!
It was really inexpensive and like a fairy tale! The setting was magical with Holy hill as a backdrop!!!
It had been raining on and off all day but 10 minutes before the wedding the sun came flooding through the clouds!
Her dress was gorgeous (although there is a whole story about that, too) and her huge wedding party was fabulous!!!
There were approx. 350 people there and it went beautifully! Joe even sang his vows to Sarah!!!!
There was stress and some upsets along the way but only for three and a half weeks!!! Oh, there were two showers in the midst of all the planning!!!!
I think I am still reeling, but I know they made the right decision, and by all the blessings we all saw along this new journey, we could tell that God was pleased, too!!!!! I have never seen so many people volunteering and helping get everything done!
In Romans 12 scripture says that tho' we are many we are one!!! Everyone was focused on ONE thing for this one couple ! BLESSINGS!!!!
Ecclesisastes4:9-12 states "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again,if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken"
God Bless your journey through this life together!!!!!!!!!
WHEW!!!!!
